A New Basket

About 7 years ago Hunter came into my and John's life. We adopted him from the local animal shelter in Valdosta. If we were to add another dog to our family it would definitely be another pound puppy. Hunter is our child - a spoiled rotten child. He pretty much runs the household. Seven years ago when we added him to our lives my dear friend Katie brought him a little basket full of goodies. We have had that basket ever since. It has been holding all of his toys. At one point the basket had a large handle, but during those puppy years Hunter destroyed it. This past weekend John bought Hunter a brand new basket for his toys!!

BL-AZ-ERS - Go - Blazers - Go!!

Saturday was VSU's homecoming game and the start of a new tradition. All alumni cheerleaders were invited to come and cheer at the game! We had to meet around noon t pick up our official shirts an we also had to learn the fight song routine to perform at pregame- wait, what?!?! Yes, exactly - we performed in front of the entire stadium on the field. The older alums and I were out of breath after this - which is crazy because I know I am at least a little in shape! I now remember why I was a size 2 and could eat whatever I wanted. After pregame we headed off the field where if you wanted you would do running tumbling. No thanks, the kick in the fight song was enough for me! Next was the player run on where we made the tunnel and did a few chants - which surprisingly enough I caught on and remembered some. Finally we headed to the sidelines to cheer for the first half. It mainly consisted of taking pictures and catching up with old friends. It really was a great time and I cannot wait until next year!

After the game I headed to the Kappa Sigma house to see the alumni and friends - those from my era! It's times like these that make you miss those days....the carefree times of college.

Okayed...

Today I had a consultation with the fertility doctor (again, I remind you - not to get pregnant, but to "fix" my body) and we discussed the last of the tests that were taken. Yay, no more invasion of my veins!! There is one more test that we are waiting for the results, but those will be gone over on a phone conference. Anyways, the doctor is one that sends different pieces to different doctors all over the nation. He does invasive research to find the "problem" and build a "recipe" (a list of medicines...) to help with better outcome pregnancies. I won't go into all the detail about what is going on with me, but to make it short it has to do with my blood - showing signs in insulin resistance, high levels of LPa, some other sort of high level cardio thing, and irregular ovulation (a.k.a ovulation dysfunction). John and I have been given the okay to start trying for pregnancy our next cycle. Does that mean we will? No. It doesn't mean anything of the sort. It just means that the doctor believes we will be able to "fix" me in order to have a different outcome pregnancy. So now the ball is in my court and John and I will figure out what to do from here. I do know that we will never say we are "trying" because for one - I dislike that term, but because I feel that puts too much pressure on everyone. So, please do not ask me if I am pregnant anytime soon - you will find out when it happens =)

the music

This afternoon I had to call my husband at work (which I rarely do) because there were some strange charges on our bank account. I am completely obsessed with my online banking and with balancing my checkbook. This obsession probably started after I used to rarely balance my checkbook and got into a few money mishaps. We all have to learn, right? Anyways, back to the point. Have you ever heard the studies about how music can trigger certain memories? I studied this in school in my psychology classes, the many many psychology classes....! I am a very firm believer in this and often I will hear certain songs and recall certain associated memories with those songs. For example, Vitamin C "Graduation" - I remember standing with my friends after graduation as we cried; that "wanna be a baller, shot caller" song - Shannon and Holly during senior year spring break stopping to visit Valdosta for tours and then heading to Panama City to stay with my aunt. There are many many others....

Back to today's song. I called John at work and was put on hold...then the music played...then the image played in my head. I remembered the very last time I called John at work. It was January 15 when I was calling to tell him the news. I remembered myself, wearing the black maternity sweater and corduroy pants. My hair was down and curly and my face was tear stained. I remember the image of my baby on the ultrasound screen - one reason I still today do not like to look at still pictures of ultrasounds. I remember the nurse sitting there at her machine....I remember it all. Most of all I remember that music. I don't think I will be calling John at work again for awhile.

Show Us Your Life - Tailgates and Favorite Teams

So, I will admit I never really got to tailgate too much because I cheered at the games and was always busy getting ready for the game. Tomorrow is my old college homecoming and all of the alumni cheerleaders get to go and cheer at the game. I am going to be so sore, but I know it's going to be so much fun. I'm not really even sure who all will be there.

Last year my sorority had our 50th year on campus anniversary at homecoming - so I got to tailgate, something I had not done in a long time. Hudson was right along with me - cheering on the Valdosta State University Blazers!

Back to Blogging

So yes, you will be hearing more from me and my always interesting life. I've gone back to reading blogs - taking from them things that make me feel better and things that are helping me. Lately I have been busy making our house our home - and preparing to have Thanksgiving here in our house with family. I have been going to the chiropractor three times a week, finishing up the last of my blog tests with the fertility doctor, and just trying to find myself again. I used to be so on top of everything and lately I can't even remember my phone number.

John and I have joined a small group on our church and we meet with 2 other couples. We have had two meetings so far and we have thoroughly enjoy the sessions. Twice a week I go to the dance studio. One day I teach a teen tap/jazz class and then take an adult ballet class. Another day I take an adult tap class. I have not been able to run the past few months due to my back pains, but I should be up and running! The good news is I have lost about ten pounds due to change in diet alone. I am excited for the new fall shows that have started back - especially Grey's!! Speaking of Grey's...I am off to watch the latest!! ta-ta!
