Heidi is Three!

Where has the time gone? Has it really been three years since we first meet our precious little girl? Have we really come so far from being so scared to have this little baby in our arms thinking we would ruin this perfect being? My love for this little girl goes further than any love I could ever imagine. Heidi is the sweetest and more lovable child I have ever known. Her words are so kind and her affection will make you absolutely melt. Watching her love on her brother will bring tears to your eyes. There has not been a single moment where she has been jealous that I need to take care of Harrison. With all of the changes that have taken place recently she has been amazing. Heidi has really blossomed and come out of her shell and it really all seemed to happen when Harrison was born. At night Heidi has only wanted me, but she will now allow daddy to lay with her to go to bed - which amazingly enough bedtime only takes a few minutes vs the hours it would take. The vocabulary Heidi has is incredible - she is such a little sponge that absorbs so much more than you could imagine. I am in trouble because she already has a memory like her mama. Heidi is also very literal like me.

We spent Heidi's birthday together {which was also Father's Day} and we wanted to make Heidi feel so special all day. John and I kept telling her happy birthday and getting really excited about her birthday. The night before we had a pre-birthday dinner and she was able to open one of her presents - pjs for her and her bitty baby. The next morning she opened her presents and then we all went to eat breakfast at the Omelette Cafe for a delicious brunch. Next we went home and let Harrison nap. We played and then John took Heidi to the store to pick up a few items. After Harrison woke up we went to pick up her cake {I vowed to always make the birthday cakes, but our oven has been on the fritz and instead of stressing she got a cookie cake} and then headed to my parents' house where we had her party. Heidi had a great time - as did we and then we went home and put our little birthday girl to bed :)

1st Recital

One of the moments I have thought about since finding out we were having a little girl! I teared up a little when Heidi went on stage for her first dance. Getting ready went well - there might have been a little argument about whether she or I would be applying the make-up {Heidi was allowed to put on her blush}. The costume might have been a little itchy, but she sucked it up :)

 

 

I am so proud of Heidi and how well she performed at her recital. With the great help of Paula, Heidi went on stage with the promise of a lollipop to reward her for a great performance. Thank you Paula for helping Heidi back stage so I could rush back to my seat and video her first performance! Thankfully Heidi's grandparents were able to go to the recital as well to help with the munchkins as well - I could not have done it alone. 

The tap was the first dance and Heidi smiled, sang, and danced her little heart out! I videoed and fed Harrison at the same time. Poor little guy always being nursed in the most random situations {the dentist has to be the most unique}. After the tap dance we had a little break before ballet, but then we had to head back and the breakdown started a little bit. I thought there were going to be huge tears on stage - anyone remember Jingle Bells? I stayed back stage with Heidi most of the time trying help her stay calm and not do anything to upset her so that she would go on stage with a happy face. Once again Paula came to the rescue taking Heidi so that I could once again rush to my seat to watch. I might have bulldozed through a man blocking a door, but I did not even stop to apologize - so to the man I ran through, sorry, but some rules I will break to make sure not to miss a moment of my daughter's life :)

Harrison - 2 Months

Harrison, you are now 2 months old! It has only been 2 short months, but it feels like you have been with us forever. I could not even imagine life without you here. You are such a growing boy. We had your 2 month appointment today and you weigh 12lbs 7ozs and are 23.75in long! You love to eat and you are such a good nurser. When you smile it is just the sweetest little thing ever, especially when that cute little dimple shows. As far as clothes you are wearing around 3 months most of the time. Some newborn and 0-3 month clothes are too tight, but of course it varies with brands. You are wearing size 1 diapers, but I think we will move up very soon! I find it easier to have you in a diaper that is a little big.

There is an established routine in your life and you like to stick to it. You will wake around 9AM, stay up for a little, take a nap for about an hour, wake/play/eat lunch, and then nap for a longer period of time. When you wake from your long nap you then like to play, eat, and watch your crazy sister. Around 5PM you start your crazy nursing where you want to nurse all the time until it is time for bed. You like to be in bed around 8PM, but our schedule has been so busy lately that it has been more like 10PM. During the night you wake up around 3AM, the around 6AM, and then start back over at 9AM.

Sleep is amazing. You sleep in your bed and your pack-n-play. I am amazed that I can put you into your bed not asleep and you will put yourself asleep. Crazy how that works :) Your sister never would put herself to sleep at all. You lift your head so strongly and you like to look all around. When people talk to you you talk right back and smile. Content is a great word to describe you right now. You kind of go with the flow of everything around. I am so thankful you do that because you will soon learn that your sister is a little high-strung {like her mama} and we need you to be laid back.

The other night I was giving you a bath and I turned you to face the mirror and you loved looking at yourself and looking at me in the mirror. You seem to like your bath time. I like to put your hair in a mohawk after your bath because I feel the need to do something with your hair. Each time I leave the house I keep thinking I need to put a bow in your hair. I have been so trained the past 3 years to not leave the house without a bow in Heidi's hair.

Water Fun

The other day we let Heidi run through the sprinklers; it was such a great time for her! I love watching the simple things that bring so much joy into Heidi's little world. The running around probably lasted about 30 minutes - definitely a tired little goose after all of that running and screaming! The bathing suit featured below is a proud hand-me-down from yours truly. Apparently I lived in this thing...
