4th of July Weekend

So - a week later I am giving our 4th of July fun weekend update :)

ON the actual day of the 4th we didn't do anything. We all hung out at home only leaving to go to lunch. It was great! The weather seemed to be a bit iffy and we were concerned that if we went somewhere it would rain, so we just opted to have a carefree day. It didn't rain, but that is okay. I actually started praying for a downpour when nighttime came because I did not want to hear the fireworks so late at night. Luckily it was not bad at all!

Friday night my mom came over to spend the night and watch the kids while John and I left for a few hours to go to a party on St. Simons Island. We were invited to our friend Sean's surprise 30th birthday party. John and I had a great time - seeing so many familiar faces. I know I always say this, but I love having get togethers with friends. It was a "hipster" theme - I just dressed like normal because I was not quite sure what to dress like - ha!

Saturday was brunch with my friend Johanna, her brother Jon, and her boyfriend Thomas. I love that I got to spend some time with Johanna - I miss her being right down the street :( It was my first time meeting Thomas, so I had to give my approval :) We went to Clary's downtown. I had an amazing omelet. Really, it was so good! I had never been to this restaurant before, but if you have read the book Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil you will be familiar.

Sunday was John's birthday and we had a little cookout and pool party with the family. I was super excited to give John his birthday present because it was something he was really going to enjoy - tickets to a Steeler game in Pittsburgh! Yay! I told him I was really excited to see Dancing with the Stars contestant Jacoby Jones. He's not a Steeler - he's a Raven :)

I have that same green and blue dress you work to the hipster party! I love it, so comfy and light for summer!
I love low key holidays- avoiding the hype is sometimes the best way to celebrate.
