Project 365 - Day 203


I think motorcyclists have their own little language. I was behind one on the interstate and another one joined him as he got onto the interstate. They stayed together for awhile. Later when I was on a highway this guy kept throwing his arm down at each motorcycle that passed and they did the same thing. Pretty neat.

The arm down thing is a biker greeting, a sign of respect for other bikers on the road whether they know each other or not.

As for riding next to each other, it's safer for them to ride as a pair, easier for other motorists to see because they see it as two headlights, rather than one. So if they are heading int he same direction you'll often see two bikers who aren't even a part of each other "team up" for a while.
