Buffalo's Wedding

This weekend (well, actually we left early Saturday morning and came home Sunday afternoon) we headed to Atlanta for Josh and Courtney's wedding! Josh was John's "little brother" in their college fraternity. It was such a pretty wedding! I had no idea it was going to be so cold so right before the wedding we had to make a little trip to Old Navy to purchase a jacket for Miss Heidi, but she did not seem to mind. Heidi was such a good little traveler the entire time!

The Buffalo shaped cookies - Heidi was so proud/excited to be holding this cookie. This is the closest she will get to sugar before her 1st birthday!

After the wedding we went to stay the night at John's brother's house where we were able to visit with Heidi's Uncle, Aunt, cousins, and Grandparents. Heidi had such a fun time playing with her cousins - they were so sweet together! On the way home Heidi slept over half the trip - it was amazing!

Toni and Tristan

My friend Toni came to visit from Oregon this week! She brought along little baby Tristan. Brent, her hubby, and Bradley, the dog, stayed at home. Toni had a little mix and mingle party at her parent's house that way we could all visit and meet baby Tristan! I was there the same time and our friend Jocelyn and her family. It was great to see the girls and play with the babes, poor little Tristan had to take a nap during the visit. Next time he is going to be so much bigger and it will be so much fun to see how he and Heidi play together.

Big Girl Play

I love catching Heidi "big girl playing". She is really beginning to play alone with all of her toys. It is so much fun to watch!

Heidi - 9 Months

Heidi - today you are 9 months!

What have you been up to?

  • You are wearing size 3 diapers.

  • Your clothes are 6-12 months.

  • You are still breastfeeding and so far you have not shown any signs of weening.

  • You love to eat real food - I do not think there is anything we have found that you do not enjoy. It is so wonderful to fix dinner and just give you some of what is on our plate.

  • Naps are about the same - just whenever you want to take a nap. You usually take two naps each day and they range from 45 minutes to 2 hours.

  • The only times you cry in the car are when you are really tired, hungry, or when you are frustrated that you cannot pull the little hood thing to chew.

  • Whatever I am holding you think you need to have.

  • Walking assisted is a favorite thing for you to do.

  • You say, "blah, blah", "mama", "dada", "night-night", "dog" - I mean maybe you aren't really saying these things, but it sounds like it and you are looking at the items when saying them.

  • You love to reach your arms out for someone to pick you up.

  • You wave "bye-bye".

  • You love to look at yourself in the mirror - you smile so big!

  • You weigh 21lbs and are 28 and 1/2" long - all in the 80ish percentiles.

  • You have two bottom teeth and your top teeth have broken through. OH MY GOODNESS they are so cute!!! It is so strange to see you with all these little choppers!

  • You are constantly smiling and laughing - it is such a joy to hear you!

  • You have been "big girl playing" so much lately. You'll sit in your room just playing and laughing!

Sweateas

This weekend I took my niece Emily to a tea party to meet the author of the Sweateas books. The party was held at Sara Jane's Boutique downtown and raised money for the March of Dimes. The night before, Emily stayed at our house for so we could wake up and go the next morning. She was such a pleasure to have spend the night. Heidi loved having her around to play with as well, especially in the car!

Attitude

Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference.
~Winston Churchill
Have you ever thought about the thoughts that run through your mind each day? I did this week and it put me in such a horrible mood. There are some things in life that I am really having a hard time dealing with. One major problem is ending sentences with prepositions, but not one that I am going to try and fix right at the moment. I feel like I am letting my thoughts/opinions about others and their actions take control over my attitude. Does that make sense? I become angry for no reason. The anger is in my head only - never at a person. For instance, people constantly complaining about not having money and then they are talking about vacations they are going on or things they got for Christmas. Another is people "listening" to you and then going on to compare their life with yours when it is really like comparing apples to oranges. Other times its when people offer to do something for you and its only on their time and not when you are ready. Its hard to explain without telling full stories. Regardless I have been letting the attitudes of others and how they handle things influence my attitude. The past few days I have been going about my own business and I have stopped worrying about how others are living their lives and my annoyances with them. I have found myself to be a much happier person in doing this.
Another thing I really have a hard time with (and sorry if this hurts anyone's feelings - please do not take it personally) is children that were born after Hudson and before Heidi. I sometimes feel so jealous because I was there first, but yet I am last. Hudson would have been born first and I would be the one to know what to do first and I would not have to ask things to them. They would have been asking me. It really shouldn't matter, but it does. It doesn't make me not like the children, it just makes me sad and I don't like being sad. I should have a two year old, but I don't and that is still such a harsh reality that I don't think people understand.
